For over 20 years, I have worked in toxicology, focusing on medication monitoring and substance use disorder testing for companies like Roche Diagnostics and Ameritox. These opportunities have allowed me to live all over the United States and speak at state conferences for Virginia and Tennessee on evidence-based practices and the tools for testing for the recovery courts and community corrections.

I grew up in Los Angeles, where I was very active in my community, even earning my Eagle Scout in a troop that backpacked the western United States. I went on to attend Utah State University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development with a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I served in the Army Military Police Corps in Panama. Having lived in Central and South America, I am also fluent in Spanish.
